VERMONTICA is the studio practice of sculptor Scott Gordon. As a furniture maker and fabricator known for custom steel work, Gordon founded VERMONTICA to bridge traditional New England craftsmanship with contemporary architectural precision. Operating out of a specialized workshop in Sharon, Vermont, the studio blends the raw honesty of industrial fabrication with the intentional curation of heavy-gauge steel and architectural hardwoods.
Custom All the Way is a solo show by Scott Gordon. The central theme of the exhibition is the permanence and architectural presence of found materials. The twelve works on view are sculptures that combine found wood with aged, patinated metal. Heavy-gauge steel is worked down into essential, refined forms, while blackened steel plates are united with the warmth of reclaimed Vermont timber. Custom All the Way demonstrates the precision and physicality of marrying metal and timber. A final hand-rubbed wax finish on the steel honors the history of the materials as they are transformed into contemporary, tactile objects.
